Earlier this week our chairwoman and owner, Angela Middleton joined the judging panel for the Voom 2018 Semi-Final in Manchester.
With the top 40 pitches from each category, Angela had the opportunity to watch, judge and be part of ‘The Grill’. The semi-finalist pitched their business idea for a chance to go through to the final. The winner for Sparks & Start-Ups category Junior Einstein’s and runner-ups Castify and Gobbler Boats been the three Angela’s shortlisted from the semi-finals!
What is Voom? Run by Virgin Media Business (VMB) for the past six years, Voom is the UK and Ireland’s biggest pitching competition. The prize for this year’s winners included a five-figure cash prize, an out of home advertising campaign and an extensive package of mentoring and services to help them grow.
Angela said “What a day! Judged the semi-finals of the Richard Branson Vroom 2018 competition today in Manchester. I was given the Leadership and Planning category and so I grilled the 40 short-listed business owners on their vision, growth goals, innovation, marketing strategy, financial model, processes, alliances and challenges. Got some inspirational answers and gave some advice too. Loved it because I’m so enthused by drive, potential and social impact. I learned so much too. We shortlisted down to 3 tonight – it’s up to Sir Richard Branson to now pick the winner!”
Here are moments Angela captured with the three finalists!
Some great feedback from one of the Grilled!
